The Little Things
As I look out of my office window, the view is of the pasture and trees–and right now, my horse. He has settled here to graze for a while. The sun is out and everyone seems very happy about that. The birds are all quite busy- chirping, singing, flying about, and some just sunning on the rail. One in particular has joined up with my horse Brownie and stays about 6 inches or so from the spot he is grazing. My heart fills watching them. It is often like this, Brownie grazing with birds very close- like a scene from a Bambi movie. I think they are drawn to his calm. The trees just outside are in bloom. The one closest with puffy white flowers, now just starting to leaf out. I keep taking pictures of all of the trees on the land bloomed out in white, somehow hoping to capture their brilliance and get them to stay just a bit longer. The next tree is a big maple with it’s tiny red leaves almost looking flower like as they start to uncoil. There is something to be said for the actual clarity that comes with the Fall shedding of the leaves. Every little detail is apparent. But I also find much joy in the unfurling that is happening now. New life coming to these majestic and settled trees.
In this glance to the outdoors, there is so much to appreciate. Today, I intentionally choose this as my focus. I will be mindful of the present and all of the little things that I am constantly surrounded by. One by one each of these little things will be my big things today. News, pandemics, stocks, media hysteria are on hiatus. At least for now.

Kim…as I read your post and view that picture I feel the calm….the gratitude and the beauty of that moment…..and as I sit in my home in my back porch, listening to the birds singing, feeling the slight breeze and seeing the blooming of my orchid….yes, yes, yes….it IS the little things and the awareness of the beauty in this Divine order in the midst of chaos. Thanks for sharing…have an amazing day!
